Data-Driven Insights for Smarter Campus Planning
Supersight transforms people flow data into actionable insights for universities and campuses. Whether it’s lecture halls, libraries, study areas, meeting rooms, or common spaces, the solution reveals how spaces are actually used, when peak times occur, and where capacity challenges exist. This enables you to optimize space utilization, improve the student experience, and support data-driven campus planning — all through a single, clear data view.

Building level insights
Supersight helps universities understand how students and staff move across campus by providing a clear view of occupancy, peak times, and space utilization. From lecture halls and libraries to entrances and common areas, the solution reveals how spaces are actually used throughout the day.
With these insights, universities can improve space planning, balance demand across buildings, and ensure that facilities support both learning and collaboration — while making better use of existing resources.
- Entrance & Flow Analysis – Understand how people move between buildings and across campus
- Space Utilization Insights – See which lecture halls, libraries, and common areas are most used
- Data for Planning – Support long-term campus and space development decisions
- Peak Time Identification – Anticipate congestion and improve, safety, comfort and accessibility

Study Spaces and Facility Usage
Supersight provides detailed insights into how individual campus spaces are used — from lecture rooms and study areas to group rooms and shared facilities. By understanding real usage patterns, universities can better align space availability with student needs.
This enables more efficient scheduling, improved space allocation, and a better overall campus experience — while reducing unused or overcrowded areas.
- Optimize Room Usage – Align lecture rooms and study spaces with actual demand
- Improve Scheduling – Identify mismatches between bookings and real usage
- Reduce Overcrowding – Detect high-demand areas and improve space distribution
- Enhance Student Experience – Ensure spaces are available when and where they’re needed

Real life deployments
Various universities across Europe use Supersight to better understand their space utilization.

City of Helsinki - Lecture hall occupancy rates
The City of Helsinki has several shared-use facilities, but there is no reliable information on their occupancy rate. There is a high demand for school and educational facilities, so the city wants to ensure that they are used as efficiently as possible. "Our aim is to promote the efficient use of learning environments," says Marjo Kenttälä, project manager. Supersight has been monitoring the occupancy rates in the lecture halls at Stadin AO and the results have been 10-12% occupancy in the monitored facilities.
University of Helsinki - Building Occupancy rate
Since the building was completed in 2004, university teaching has changed and it is no longer necessary to use all the traditional teaching spaces in the same way. Occupancy varies significantly from month to month, peaking at a weekly average of 26% in 2024, with single hour occupancy peaking at 39%.
